PERI-MENOPAUSAL WOMEN
AGE 40 to 55
DO I QUALIFY?
Researchers at the University of Delaware are conducting a research study for healthy women age 40 to 55 who are entering menopause (peri-menopausal).
The purpose of this study is to understand how changing estrogen levels affect women’s blood vessel function as they transition into menopause.
There will be a total of 5 visits in Newark, Delaware and participants will perform some
activities at home.
All participants will be provided financial compensation plus the results of a standard physical exam.

Receive the results from a standard physical exam
Help UD researchers understand estrogen’s effect on blood vessel function
Free parking for all study visits
Total of 5 visits
Initial health screening visit at UD
Visits 2 and 5 at RAD Fertility in Newark (pre/post-screening)
Visits 3 and 4 at UD lab (assessments of blood vessel function)
Self-administering a daily injection of hormone-regulating medication (Antagon) at home for 10 to 12 days
Wearing an estrogen or placebo patch for 7 days
You may be eligible to participate if you…
Are a healthy woman age 40 to 55
Are experiencing irregular menstrual cycles or other symptoms of menopause
Do not use hormonal birth control or hormone replacement therapy (i.e., you are not taking the pill, using a hormonal IUD, or receiving treatment for hot flashes)
Do not smoke
Do not have high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes
Can attend visits in Newark, Delaware
